The ETHS Rowing Team spring season builds toward two of the most important regattas of the year—the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association Championships (MSRA) and the USRowing Youth National Championships in Tennessee. MSRA is the premier regional championship for high school rowing programs across the Midwest, bringing together top crews from Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and beyond. It serves as both a championship event and a proving ground, where teams compete head-to-head to establish themselves among the best in the region.
Strong performances at MSRA can lead to qualification for Nationals, making it a critical step in the postseason. The goal this year is not just to compete, but to place at a high level and position at least one boat for advancement. For a growing and increasingly competitive program like ETHS, earning a Nationals bid would be a significant milestone and a reflection of the team’s rapid progress.
The USRowing Youth National Championships is the highest level of competition for junior rowing in the country. Crews from across the United States qualify through regional events like MSRA to earn their spot. Racing at Nationals means lining up against the fastest boats in the nation—programs with deep experience and strong recruiting pipelines.
For ETHS, reaching Nationals would be about more than results. It represents exposure, experience, and the chance to compete on a national stage. It also reinforces the pathway this program is building—from novice development through high-level competition—and highlights what’s possible as our athletes continue to grow, both within the sport and beyond it.
